Basics

  • Benign Proliferation of Dermal Fibroblasts
  • Most Common in Adults

Presentation

  • Solitary Firm Nodule
  • Often Hyperpigmented
  • Diameter 3-10 mm, Can Be Larger
  • Fixed to Subcutaneous Tissue
  • Dimple When Pinched
  • Most Common on Lower Extremities

Diagnosis

  • Clinical (Based on History and Physical Exam)
  • May Require Biopsy if Uncertain

Treatment

  • Generally Require No Treatment
  • Indications for Excision:
    • Symptomatic
    • Concern for Malignancy
    • Patient Preference (Cosmesis)
