Definition

  • Definition: Modified Smooth Muscle Tumor of Glomus Bodies
    • Globus Bodies – AV Shunts Surrounded by Connective Tissue Involved in Temperature Regulation
  • Benign
  • Associated with Neurofibromatosis Type 1

Sites

  • Subungual – Most Common
  • Deep Dermis of Palm, Wrist, Forearm or Foot

Presentation

  • Severe Pinpoint Pain
  • Cold Sensitivity
  • Blue-Purple Mass

Diagnosis

  • Clinical Diagnosis
  • Love Test – Extreme Pain Elicited from Direct Pressure with a Pencil Tip or Pinhead
  • Hildreth Sign – Reduced Pain with Proximal Tourniquet Inflation
  • May Consider US or MRI

Treatment

  • Primary Treatment: Surgical Excision
