Basics

  • Definition: Benign Tumor of Ductal Epithelial Cells Within Mammary Ducts
    • Solitary Intraductal Papilloma: Single Papilloma
      • Usually Found Centrally
    • Diffuse Papillomatosis: ≥ 5 Papillomas Within a Localized Breast Segment
  • 5-15% Risk of Harboring Atypia, DCIS or Malignancy

Presentation

  • Mostly Asymptomatic & Found Incidentally
  • May Be Palpable
  • Most Common Cause of Bloody/Pathologic Nipple Discharge

Diagnosis

Treatment

  • Treatment: Surgical Excision
  • *Consider Terminal Duct Excision if No Lesion is Identified on Imaging
